Résumé

Ahmed Taha Bouallegui

M.Eng. in Internet of Things & Cybersecurity at Polytech Lille, Linux systems, declarative infrastructure, and security work.

Technical summary

Computer Engineering student specializing in IoT and Cybersecurity, with practical experience in Linux system administration, containerization, and infrastructure as code. Active contributor to self-hosted environments using NixOS, Docker, and Debian, including a home lab that runs its own models locally. Looking for an internship in systems administration or cybersecurity, 10 weeks to 4 months, available anywhere between 19 April and 31 August 2027.

Professional experience

  1. Research Internship, CRIStAL (2XS team)

IRCICA • Université de Lille · Lille, France · Jun to Jul 2026

    • Removed every fork and exec of iw and ip from the wifi module of a Linux probe that detects IoT devices from 802.11 management frames, replacing them with direct nl80211 (genl) and rtnetlink calls, and added automatic wireless interface discovery.
    • Contributed to the 2XS team building reliable embedded software, targeting reduced memory footprint, energy efficiency, and security at the OS / hardware-software co-design level.
    • Applied formal-methods and OS-architecture principles to system-level tooling and kernel-level debugging.
  2. Fabmanager (Fabricarium FabLab)

Polytech Lille · Villeneuve d'Ascq, France · Apr 2025 to Present

    • Operate and maintain the school's FabLab, managing digital-fabrication equipment: 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC, and electronics workstations.
    • Support engineering students and researchers prototyping hardware and IoT projects; oversee the electronics zone in collaboration with the Robotech club.
    • Facilitate Arts/Science collaborations and coordinate equipment bookings, safety, and open-session workflows for a maker-oriented workspace.
  3. Internship in Automation Engineering

Valeo · Tunis, Tunisia · Jul to Aug 2023

    • Automated a sound-recognition filtering procedure on an automotive steering-wheel production line.
    • Utilized Python (Librosa) for audio analysis to improve quality-control workflows.

Selected projects

  1. Local LLM Inference on Consumer Hardware

    Since Aug 2026

    • Run open-weight models on three machines with llama.cpp, running inference on GPU and on CPU only, reachable only through a VPS.
    • A 125B mixture-of-experts model on a 12 GB card: experts split across VRAM, RAM and a 29 GB SSD lookup table. 49 tok/s decode and 997 tok/s prefill.
    • One patch on the config tree that builds all my machines wires the endpoint into three agent harnesses, so prompts, configs and weights never leave the machines.
  2. Self-Hosted Linux Server Infrastructure

    Since Jan 2026

    • Runs a headless server: Nextcloud, Jellyfin, SearXNG and Samba, with strict per-user isolation. Started on Debian in January 2026, rebuilt on NixOS in February from the same config tree.
    • No public listeners: services are reachable through a VPS only, with the firewall left closed to the WAN.
    • Secrets committed to the repository encrypted with sops.
  3. Split Keyboard, Schematic to Solder

Jan to Jun 2026 · coursework project

    • KiCad schematic and two-layer PCB for one half of a 30-key split: 112 footprints, routed with the switch matrix on one layer and the LEDs on the other.
    • ATmega32U4 firmware in C on top of LUFA HID, with 16 RGB LEDs driven by two cascaded TLC5947 PWM controllers.
  4. Jeanne d'Hack CTF Competition

    Jan to Feb 2026

    • Participated in a team-based Capture The Flag event focusing on binary reverse engineering, web application vulnerabilities, and memory corruption exploits.
